Weekend Reflections: The Stilts Building

This downtown office building is called the Stilts Building, for obvious reasons.

Why did they build it on stilts?  I really don't know.

  1. The modern building is huge and I loved the sky reflection.
Also those flags are a plus detail in this composition, very well done!
    Happy weekend,

  2. A very interesting building! It reminds me of an office building in downtown Tucson.

  3. Stilts, heh? It would make sense if it was along the Florida coast. I kind of like it even though it looks like it might fall over...but gotta say it's unique.

There's a new poem on Creative Confections that you might enjoy. You might not, too, but that's OK.

Have a great weekend and try to stay warm! Oh, wait, you're warmer than we are. And that's somehow not fair!

  6. Those concrete stilts hardly look capable of supporting the weight.

  7. Really cool. The architecture nut in me loves this stuff. I'm guessing it was built that way to stand out. You can also build a little taller (which is a nice display of power) and keep the same square footage. I'd love to see what the lobby looks like.

  14. Wonder if the stilts are experimental (earthquakes, etc.)? Sch a big wall of glass is very conducive to get great reflections:)
