Norwalk is a city on the Connecticut shoreline.
A restaurant along Water Street in South Norwalk has an old, worn mural honoring the kind of sailing ship that once used Norwalk as its home harbor.
Across the street a newer mural celebrates the Sheffield Island Lighthouse.
Today's post is linked to Monday Murals.
A sailing ship is moored around the corner. It offers cruises to Sheffield Island, one of several small islands off Norwalk that constitute the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge.

It would be great to sit on that patio on a nice summer day, have a cold drink, and look at that lovely mural.
ReplyDeleteI see the muralists are taken with gaff rigged sailing ships while the sailboats have more contemporary sail rigging. Lovely murals. Too bad your first one is aging badly. Perhaps it should have had a better primer coat of paint?
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful. The first one meets a touch up to look great again. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Jack.
ReplyDeleteHm. I was once lucky enough to go sailing off and on in Long Island Sound, and I remember Sheffield Island. I had no idea it was part of Norwalk's purview (I had to look it up...) So now I know, 50 years later.
ReplyDeleteShoreline, that is the key for me. Thank you for sharing this.
