A Walk Along the Hartford Side of Prospect Avenue

Prospect Avenue divides Hartford from West Hartford.  The stretch between Farmington Avenue and Asylum Avenue is home to some lovely homes from the turn of the 20th century.

Nice details.  Palladian window.  Bow windows.  Turret.  Bright colors.

The embellished portico contrasts with an otherwise plain façade.

Lots of nice cornice, window and door details.

 If you like green . . .

Gate, column, house.

This Tudor house is nicely maintained.  I should have photographed it after the lawn was mowed.

It's the Tudor that really catches my eye. We don't have a lot of that here.

They are all wonderful, Jack! It still surprises me a bit to see so many wooden homes where here they would almost all be brick.

Wow, very nice indeed. My favorite is the last one. I have a thing for Tudor.

Amazing. My favorite is the 5th house. But all of them are really nice estates.

I'd happily live in any of those!

Well, today's post is an exposition of architectural terms and the examples to go with them. Quite a nice neighborhood!
