Cattle Drive

Punta Gorda has many wonderful murals.

My favorite is this mural of a cattle drive on the side of a law office.  Florida has always had lots of cattle.  In the 19th century, the cattle were driven from inland to the Gulf of Mexico coast,
places like Punta Gorda, from which they were shipped to Cuba and on to Europe.

It is a wonderful mural Jack. My grandfather and his brother were both Florida cattlemen. In fact, my great uncle, Gilbert Barkoskie, was one of Florida's pioneer cattle ranchers and was once named "Cattleman of the Century" by the Florida Cattlemen's Association where he served as a director. He lived in Fellsmere, Florida.

This is excellent and I really like the way the cattle are formed around the window.

That's quite a mural and very well done. I wonder if the barristers imagine themselves running with the bulls.

Giddy-up you dogies. I had no idea that Florida has a history of cowboys and cattle drives. Thanks for the education. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

Excellent mural Jack, and with historical relevance, even better.
