The Riverfront

Like yesterday's photo of the Old State House, this shot from the riverfront plaza back into the downtown was taken Sunday afternoon.  The tented structure is intended to bring to mind
the sails of boats that once plied the Connecticut River.

The most prominent building is the blue-green, glass, boat-shaped building of Nassau Reinsurance (which acquired Phoenix Insurance a year ago).  To its left is the freshly renovated Travelers Tower.

A kids' train pulled by Thomas the Tank Engine is at the riverfront some weekends.

What would Rev W Awdry think about Thomas plying his trade in a cityscape like that? He's certainly a long way from the Island Of Sodor.

The two buildings you identified certainly illustrate a contrast in architectural styles. I like both of them because of the time period in which they were erected. The train certainly offers a diversion for little people.

The two buildings look great side by side in your pic, Jack!

I love seeing these shots of the business buildings! That little train reminds me of the ones I see running up and down a couple of our malls.

The last photo is my favorite. I like the train with the modern buildings.

That black glass building is almost identical to one over here in Bradford.

A pair of giant compasses was my first thought.
