Out of the Jurisdiction: R. J. Julia

Madison is a lovely town on the Connecticut shore.  It has an especially picturesque main street.

A highlight of Madison's main street is R. J. Julia, the best independent bookstore in Connecticut and maybe New England.  The people who work in the store pick the books to promote, and they place hand-written notes explaining what they liked about the books.

I already had a stack of unread books, but I bought three more any way.  Who could resist?

I would find this bookstore irresistible! I noticed the range of topics, which I would enjoy enormously. Mary Oliver and David Sedaris and art books. Such treasures!

This looks very inviting. I am reading two books at the moment. One paperback and one on my smartphone.

What? You have only ONE stack of unread books? I wish I had your self-control! 😊 R.J. Julia is a candy store.

It looks wonderful! My local store in Salts Mill does the recommendation thing with handwritten notes too - and it's really helpful when choosing a new read.

How nice to know why staff like particular books. That can make them even more irresistible. Nothing quite as nice as an independent bookstore.
