Out of the Jurisdiction: Artist Cottages, Cape Cod

In Orleans' Market Square, there are perhaps ten small artist cottages open in the summer,
with rotating artists showing their works.  OK, most of the artists don't rotate.
There are just different artists renting the cottages each week.

Nancy Lyon does very careful and detailed work -- prints, scrimshaw, jewelry -- the common element being Nancy's attention to the small details.  A teacher, until this spring Nancy also had a gallery in Hyannis.  Now she shows her works online and in other Cape Cod venues.

Stephen Roth was in the cottage next to Nancy.  For more than 40 years Stephen has painted with a palette knife.  Unlike Nancy's precise and detailed work, Stephen's colorful works are bold.
He wipes his hands on his shirt.  This is his second one.  The first shirt lasted 24 years.

Jennifer Baudanza screenprints children's shirts in addition to other screen printed work.
There are lobstahs in Willa's and Hazel's futures.

And retired teacher Jayne Gallimore makes stained glass art under the name LydieBug Mosaics.
If I had a Cape Cod cottage, there might be lighthouses in my own future.

Ah Jack! Glad to see that you have returned to portraits again! I, of course, have enjoyed your previous photos but missed the photos of people and your commentary. i like the retired teacher's work! You don't really need a Cape Cod cottage to own one of her lighthouses!

The cottages look quite cute. The girls will look cute in those lobster clothes, Jack!

Another fine collection of portraits of artists.

Jayne's stained glass really catches my eye.

Superb craft but a hard way to make a living. If my recollection is correct, though, people who summer on Cape Cod have money to spend.

Wow, some lovely work on show there. Even that man's shirt is a work of art!
