Independence Day


John Trumbull painted the signers of the Declaration of Independence in 1832.  
Thomas Jefferson is in the center, presenting the Declaration of Independence to John Hancock
A Trumbull exhibition at Hartford's Wadsworth Atheneum just ended.

Suitable for the occasion. (I heard today that NPR read - and tweeted - the entire Declaration yesterday, the 26th time it had been read. It generated great controversy because many listeners felt they were hearing propaganda. Sorry. I digress.)
