Heublein Tower

A ridge runs between West Hartford and Bloomfield on the east side and Avon and Simsbury on the west side.  Talcott Mountain State Park is at the top.

The liquor entrepreneur Gilbert Heublein built a tower at the peak.  It opened in 1914.

There is a nice, fairly short hike to get to Heublein Tower.  From the tower, there are 180 degree views over the Farmington River valley to the west.

That all looks rather European to me - Austria perhaps, or Germany?
