Mormon Temple, Farmington

The Mormon Church has just completed a large new temple in the Hartford suburb of Farmington, just the second temple in New England.  Non-Mormons are not permitted inside after the temple is dedicated so, before that happens, the temple is hosting three weeks of open visits.
Photos of the interior are not permitted.

They seem to flock in Haninge for some reason. There are two temples here. And that is two too many.

Didn't realize that there was a Mormon Church in New England.

That looks very familiar to me since there are so many of them in my area.

Impressive architecture.

I'm pretty sure I'm blacklisted by the Mormons, what with once having a roomie who was one, and remarking to one of his elders about the Mormons having a lot in common with the Mafia. Both controlling cities in the desert, both operating on strict hierarchy, both employing goons to keep their assets in check. The elder wasn't impressed, and the roomie moved out inside of three days.

They don't seem to have skimped on style or expense with that magnificent building. I've only ever met one Mormon family and they are very nice people - all eleven of them!

I hope you did the tour just to see what is in there, Jack! I toured a Masonic Temple just for that reason!

That is a most impressive Temple. Fine Sunday photo.

It looks like they're ready to make a foothold - or, at least a statement - in Connecticut. We seem to be a destination for their teen aged boy "missionaries." They are unmistakable. They move about in pairs, 19 years old, cheap white shirts, black ties, bicycles. I've yet to meet anyone they've converted.

You photographed the beautiful structure well against the blue sky.
