Cars on Fifth

On Saturday, the owners of about 100 Ferraris and 450 other collectible cars showed off displayed their amazing vehicles to more than 50,000 visitors on Fifth Avenue South in Naples.

Unsurprisingly, this 1935 Auburn Supercharged Boattail Speedster was named Best in Show.

If I had a vote, this 1929 Packard roadster might have been a contender.

Red was a popular color, maybe because the next day was Valentine's Day.
More likely, owners of fancy cars have figured out that hot red cars are babe magnets.

This Aston Martin was for sale at a smidge over $300,000.  I didn't buy it.

This shot gives a sense of the crowds.

That would have been fabulous to see, Jack! I love watching the Barrett-Jackson fine car auctions on TV!

My car is red... not hot though. I never wanted to be a babe magnet anyway.... Or even a cool dude magnet.

The Speedster certainly deserves it! Shows like that really do bring out people.

Always fun to have a look at classic cars, even though you can't afford one.

I will confess to loving a red car. What is it about that color?

That is a lot of cars!!! And an interesting variety!! I've never cared for cars except for transportation, but I know I am in the minority in a big way!! I do like you pics, though, they're great as always!! Hope your week is going well!!

It's clear, isn't it, that the U.S. is a car culture. Someone did a stellar job of recruiting some pretty darned fancy cars. I don't think I'd have enjoyed directing traffic setting up or breaking down this display.

I'm not a "car person" but I do like to see them in such fine condition and I love to photograph them. ;)

Fantastic car show. You have captured several of my favorites here. Love the Auburn boat tailed speedster, so can't complain about it being best in show. But I also love the 1929 Packard. Ever since I saw the Packard collection at Harrah's car museum years ago, I've thought the '29 Packard was the high point of that brand. Sorry you didn't buy the Aston Martin, but I think you can find one for less.

Love the angle of your third photo! I'm not into cars but I can imagine the fascination. I must say some models are striking!!!
