City Sidewalks, Busy Sidewalks, Dressed In Holiday Style

In the air there's a feeling of Christmas.

Especially at Rockefeller Center in the afternoon.

And, at night?  Rockefeller Center is nuts!

There are ways to avoid the crowded sidewalks
(if you are out early in the morning on a weekend).

But, if you like the press of crowds, you can visit the busy Christmas market at Columbus Circle.

A peaceful way to avoid the crowds is to take the A Train to the Cloisters,
at the far northern end of Manhattan.  It is a branch of the Metropolitan Museum
dedicated to medieval art.  Spectacular!

The January theme for City Daily Photo bloggers is "Photo of the Year."

Always have enjoyed my trips to the Cloisters.
I'll have to try winter though. Always seem to hit it in summer.

No, I'm not fond of crowds either, but everyone does look ready for the holidays and these are terrific captures as always!! I do love NYC, but haven't been there in a number of years! Your photos are the next best thing to being there myself. Have a beautiful, wonderful holiday, Jack!!

Great photos from New York. When I saw that first photo, I thought "it's good to be tall". I wouldn't have able to get that shot. I love The Cloisters too and I didn't know you could take a train out there. My friends and I took a cab there and back. It's pretty silly that I know the London underground better than the New York transit system.

Beautiful shots of the city, particularly the first one.

I've heard of the Cloisters, of course... I'd love to see the place.

Always exciting, always packed. Hope to get into the city Friday or Saturday.

Although I grew up in NYC and have returned a a couple of time a year ever since, I've never been to The Cloisters. Maybe this time.

One day I hope to see this in person.

Nice crowd shots Jack. You made feel as though I was right there with them.

Lucky you - a Christmas trip to NYC! :)
I love those Angels. They're heavenly... and now I've got that Christmas song in my head. "Angels we have heard on high, sweetly singing over the plains..."

Christmas is in the air everywhere . . except our local superstore. They seem to have forgotten Christmas and are hanging up Chinese New Year decorations already!
