Pelicans

Back to Naples and the beach.

A swarm of pelicans.  And one gull.

Great composition here Jack.

That's quite a squadron of pelicans. Do you know that these birds have air in their bones that make them look lighter and more graceful than they actually are when flying? Blogging fills my head with trivia because I need to search for interesting info when I see a photo I like.

Great shot---the lone gull looks a bit out of place..and a bit worried!

The pelican looks like he's trying to strike up a conversation with the gull! Pick up line maybe?

These are such funny looking birds when they are just sitting but they are very elegant flyers.

Iconic Florida. And to think that 30 years ago the brown pelican was almost extinct due to DDT. They've made a great comeback!

Well-composed photo. I'd tease you a bit but I can see from one of the birds that your so gullible! :)

As Lowell would say, it's a pelican convention with an outsider.

Lovely photo. The pelican flock just wouldn't be right if there weren't one interloper trying to fit in, but the pelicans don't seem to care.

We all love it!

What a great pair! I almost didn't notice the little guy on the left, for giving all of my attention to the pelican. Very nice.

A splendid shot, Jack. They may look awkward at first glance, but second glance at a pelican shows a graceful bird...

I see they had an uninvited guest at the party.
