Twin Towers

The terrorism attack on the two towers of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, was the defining event of the 21st century so far.  This is a detail from an eighteen foot long allegorical painting by Graydon Parrish, commissioned by the New Britain Museum of American Art to commemorate the tragedy.  I showed it before, here.  Every time I am at the museum, I visit the painting.

This close-up is a painful reminder of that terrible day, which is etched in our memories forever. I'm glad that you supplied the link to see the painting in its entirety.

Thank you for marking this day. Striking detail and appreciated the larger context from before. (My brother was in one of the towers that morning but luckily is OK. So many others were not so lucky.)

I remember the painting, it is not easy to find something like this nowadays. And I like it.

I remember that day very well. No one's life the world round has been the same since that defining day. But life goes on...

I really like this memorial painting. It's very moving.

Yes, twin towers in agony. Whenever I fly into New York the hole in the skyline makes me so sad.
