Charter Oak Place

Charter Oak Place is a short street tucked behind Main Street.  It has two dozen lovely old houses that had become rundown by the 1960s but were discovered and renovated in the 1980s.

I'm glad people rediscovered the charms of these old houses before they were all gone.

You have many stately old buildings in your area! The young man on the bike adds interest and charm to your photo.

Renovation is a wonderful thing, are you a 'handy man' Jack??

Well done. The idea, the original construction, the renovation, and the photograph.

The magic word 'renovation' makes miracles here and there!

The beauty takes my breath away. Thank goodness no one decided to demolish this one and the others!

Good that they were renovated rather than torn down.

Sounds like we took somewhat the same trip (Lucca, Cinque Terre...)!

I, too, love to see these old houses restored and this one is a beauty! Terrific capture/composition for the day! Love the boy on the bicycle, the flowers and the street lamp! Have a great day, Jack!

How nice that this ISN'T one of the old crumbling ruins you occasionally post! Those entryways are fantastic. This was definitely a building worth saving.

60ies and 70 ies were very hard for old buildings! We've lost a lot during those years. Lyckily, some people finally understood that all those treasures had to be protected and kept!

I admire those who have the skills to take a run down place and make it new and fresh again.

How fortunate for the town that these buildings and the street were saved. Would love to live in that house.
