Faces

A wall in an exhibition room in the Old Hartford State House is decorated by the faces of current and past Hartford citizens, some famous and some just regular folks.

Here is a quiz.  Which face belongs to Eddie Perez, the former Hartford mayor who was convicted of curruption last summer and is now getting ready to serve a three year federal prison term?

Hint:  Look for a smiling male face directly above one of those red squares.

I like the whole idea! What kind of corruption did the former Mayor engage in? I think politics can have a negative influence for some people.

Very interesting idea about this exposition!
smiling faces always make difference!

Neat concept. I like the every day ordinary citizen shots. They're the ones who make up the community.

I agree with SRQ. It is really the average joe, so to speak, that really make up communities and effect change.

Well, if Buddy Cianci taught us anything, felonies don't necessarily preclude politicians from re-election!

Maybe Eddie and Tom DeLay can get together! I don't know about Eddie, but Tom DeLay got off way too easy!

Interesting that just regular folks got included in this montage...which suggests to me I ask if your photo is up there?

:-)

Like the idea of the Faces montage.
I have one like that going down my stairs....although I don't know if any of the faces in mine are in to politics and crime;)
(That I KNOW of....)

Kate: The principal charge was that he had a city contractor work on his house at deeply discounted rates.

Susie: I always thought Buddy Cianci (former mayor of Providence) was such a good mayor that he deserved everything he stole . . .

Jacob: No, I'm not on the wall.

It's a nice idea. Although I'm surprised they didn't remove the scandalized politician.

Great idea, well-displayed, and beautifully photographed (by you!). It reminds me a bit of the "wall of faces" on Ellis Island (except that one becomes a huge USA flag when you look it from a different angle).

I'm guessing Eddie is the B&W photo of the guy with his hand on his chin?

I figured since I mentioned it maybe I should add a link:

Good idea, top middle?

I think I see him. Gray suit? This is a cool idea. Now, is there a reason he is up on that wall despite the corruption charges? I do like this though. Not that the community heroes need more motivation, but it would be nice to be recognized and put up on the wall.

Jack, an unrelated question. I have a meeting in Hartford next week and I'm sort of excited. I never get out that way and I'm going to bring my camera. Any suggestions for good places to take photos? I'm going downtown, but I'll have a car and I'm willing to drive.

Not a bad idea, it's funny that they left the mayor hanging there...

What a creative post. I think I found him. I agree with VP, surprised they kept him on the wall.

Nice shot but I agree with VP and Regina.

Eddie is two-thirds to the right and one-third down. He has dark hair and glasses. He is between a woman with short hair and a mother and daughter with a green background.

Latest concept here is to send them to prison if they are politicians and pay them milions if they are bankers.

This is a nice way to do it! I like the fact that they mix the group of people.
Here there are mostly men, and they have either been politicians, or/and been in the main newspaper several times, before they get a frame around their photo.... We have a few corrupt people in the government, the church as well in local trade, schools and health organizations. I guess there will always be someone who think they can do whatever they like and hope that nobody will find out! I guess I for quite some time have stopped trusting "everyone" with a title. Most people are honest!!:)
And some do a brilliant job for the society and those who are less fortunate. -- Have a nice weekend-!:)
